Ashutosh Gowariker Reunites With National Award-Winning Costume Designer Neeta Lulla For Panipat

Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker’s has already begun work on his upcoming historical drama – Panipat. The director, who has helmed films like Lagaan, Swades and Jodhaa Akbar, is known to put a dream team together for all his projects that helps him smoothly transcends his creative vision to celluloid.

So, after roping in National award-winning art director – Nitin Chandrakant Desai, who had re-created the Agra Fort in Gowariker's Jodhaa Akbar,
Ashutosh has roped in National award-winning costume designer Neeta Lulla for the action-packed period drama Panipat. Ashutosh had teamed up with her during Jodhaa Akbar, and we all know what visual magic the collaboration of these two creative geniuses had created. In fact, Neeta Lulla had received the National award for designing the royal costumes of Jodhaa Akbar.

Speaking about the association, an excited Neeta Lulla says, “I am thrilled to collaborate with Ashu yet again. While it is always great to work with an old friend, Panipat is also an exciting  project for me. I love working on period dramas, and I am very happy to be working on a challenging project such as this I thank Ashu and Sunita for giving me this opportunity.”

Featuring Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Kapoor and Kriti Sanon in pivotal roles, Panipat is based on the Third Battle of Panipat, which is one of the most epic battles in the history of India that took place on 14 January 1761 at Panipat. The battle was fought between the northern expeditionary force of the Maratha Empire and invading forces of the King of Afghanistan, Ahmad Shah Abdali, supported by two Indian allies—the Rohilla Afghans of the Doab, and Shuja-ud-Daula, the Nawab of Awadh.

The high-octane action period drama is produced by Sunita Gowariker and Rohit Shelatkar's company – Vision World. The film is poised to release on December 6, 2019.
