Salem, MA — Boston Solar, the #1 residential solar installer based in Massachusetts*, is pleased to announce a recent installation at the All Creatures Veterinary Hospital on 20 Commercial St.
Founded in 2011, Boston Solar employs over 130 clean energy professionals and has installed solar panels on more than2,200 homes and businesses throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Connecticut. Boston Solar handles all aspects of the solar installation process, includingfinancing and rebates, designing custom systems, and permitting and installation — making it easy for our customers to go solar.
The 116 panels that adorn All Creatures will allow the hospital to save over $1,400 a month and will produce savings over the next 20 years of over $250,000. The system is estimated to off-set about 70% of their electric needs. Owner Dr. Elizabeth Bradt says, “installing solar on our hospital just made so much sense. The money we are saving on electric bills plus the environmental good the system produces made it a very simple decision. Boston Solar made the whole process extremely easy. They did an amazing job!” Bradt went on to say, “when Boston Solar approached me about using my system to gain more attention, I was thrilled. And when they said they would help me raise money for a good cause, I was even happier!”
The two companies have partnered to raise money for Marianna Suiu. Marianna, raised in a Romanian orphanage, earned her masters of veterinary science and was volunteering her time at the Northeast Animal Shelter until recently when her visa expired. Dr. Bradt, who was connected to Suiu through a fellow Rotarian member added, “I knew Marianna was special the first time I met her.”Suiu, who also competed in the Dwarf Olympics in San Diego in 2014, would like to return to the United States and Bradt would love to employ her.
Boston Solar has agreed to donate $500 for each person referred by All Creatures that installs a solar system through the company. The money will go 100% towards helping Dr. Bradt pay the legal fees involved in bringing Marianna back to the United States. “Dr. Bradt is a wonderful example of what we firmly believe in as a company,” said marketing and outreach manager Chris Buchanan. He went on to add, “Being able to install a clean energy producing solar system and helping someone in need in our community is a perfect combination for us. Dr. Bradt is a great example of both.”
Massachusetts residents who install solar can qualify for a 30% Federal Tax Credit, a $1,000 State Tax Credit, and cash payments for 10 years for producing clean energy. According to Buchanan, “Customersnow have a choice, and it’s smart and sustainable and affordable. For the first time, electricity from a solar system on your roof is cheaper than buying power from the utility.”
