United Kingdom One of the world’s leading suppliers of electronic cigarettes has today released information relating to the yearly average savings made by people who swap their traditional brands for the modern, less damaging alternative. The numbers really do speak for themselves, and with LastCig opting to publish this information now; it looks as though thousands more regular smokers could make the switch this summer. While some doctors have expressed concern over the lack of testing these devices have undergone, nearly all of them agree they’re far less damaging than the cyanide-filled smoke their patients have been inhaling for decades.
The average smoker who gets through a pack of 20 each day is currently spending somewhere in the region of £2912 every single year on their habit. While they probably wouldn’t admit to that level of expense, this figure has been worked out based on calculations and figures published by the tobacco information service TMA, so they are 100% accurate. Not only does this cost make a significant dent in the bank balances of all smokers, but it also causes increased medical fees that can place a real strain on health services.
LastCig believe all regular smokers could save up to and including £2073.70 per year if they made the switch to electronic cigarettes. This is quite clearly a significant sum, and it could be used to pay for family holidays, better living conditions, and even more nights out with their partners. So, skeptics and opponents will have a hard time coming up with an argument on this one.
British chancellor George Osborn has just announced an increase of no less than 28 pence on every packet of cigarettes sold in the UK, something he does almost every year when presenting his budget. This means the average price of 20 cigarettes will rise to just over £8 in suburbs, and in excess of £9 in major cities around the UK. If smokers needed a financial reason to quit, this is it. Just think of what else you could do with all that money.
