One of themostversatile singers of the Indian film industry who has millions of fan follower across the globe, Asha Bhosle has come a long way. She has dominated the Indian music industry for a period of six decades. Renowned for her voice range and her all-around singing in different genre, the Government of India honored her with Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and Padma Vibhushan in 2008. Having seven Filmfare Awards to her credit, her work includes film song, pop, ghazals, bhajans, traditional Indian classical music, Qawwalis and Rabindra sangeet. Ashatai was born in the Mangeshkar family on 8th September 1933, where she inherited the rich and deep-rooted musical tradition from her father, Master Dinanath Mangeshkar. Over the years, she was groomed and guided along with her immensely talented siblings Lata Mangeshkar, Hridaynath Mangeshkar and others. She started her career in Marathi music industry at the tender age of 10.
In 1948, she made her Hindi film debut with the song "Saawan Aaya" for Hansraj Behl's Chunariya and since then there was no looking back. Her collaboration with R.D.Burman and Muhummad Rafi in 1960s resulted in numerous hits which gave her recognition in Bollywood. Some of her evergreen songs like "Aaja Aaja", "O Haseena Zulfonwali" and “O Mere Sona Re” are popular even today. Her singing contribution to more than thousand Bollywood movies, several private music albums in India as well as abroad was recognized by the World Records Academy and honored her as “The Most Recorded Artist” in 2007. In 2011 she was also acknowledged by the Guinness Book of World Records as the “Most Recorded Artist” in the world music industry.
