METTLER TOLEDO Thornton is thrilled to announce the launch of the Pure Water Optical Dissolved Oxygen (ODO) Sensor. The Optical DO Sensor paired with the Thornton M800 transmitter provides high accuracy, fast response and increased stability in demanding low ppb-level applications.

Outstanding measurement performance with low detection limit, minimum drift, and short response time significantly improves oxygen monitoring. METTLER TOLEDO's proprietary OptoCapâ„¢ sensing element provides very accurate oxygen determination and easy maintenance without electrolyte handling. Oxygen monitoring is critical for minimizing corrosion in power plant water chemistry applications. Additionally, the OptoCap eliminates the need for polarization, making the measuring system readily available and reducing downtime.

Typical applications include dissolved oxygen measurement in power plant cycle chemistry monitoring, generator stator cooling, semiconductor ultrapure water, and other pure water treatment systems, where dissolved oxygen content is critical. However, power plant generator stator cooling water typically contains dissolved hydrogen from the pressurized

hydrogen atmosphere inside the generator. Hydrogen interferes with polarographic DO sensors, but not the Optical DO Sensor.

Christie Martin, MT Thornton's Global Product Manager, states: "The Pure Water Optical DO Sensor has a 33% faster response time over competitive optical models and is six times faster than traditional polarographic sensors, making it the fastest ODO measurement available on the market today."

Intelligent Sensor Management (ISM) technology simplifies handling of the Optical DO Sensor with Plug and Measure simplicity. In addition, the Dynamic Lifetime Indicator (DLI) and Adaptive Calibration Timer (ACT) make maintenance planning easy, reducing downtime.
