A study conducted by Glenmark Foundation and Spandan Samaj Sewa Samiti in association with District Heath Department revealed that Skin Infections (especially Fungal Infections) affected around 35% of the population in these 80 tribal villages and it escalated during the summer and monsoon seasons. The prime cause of this high incidence of Skin infections in this area is the stagnant water in public ponds and streams which are being used for multiple purposes. The study indicated that certain Fungal Skin infections are contagious thus spreading from one family member to another making it a grave issue.
The camp was conducted with the support of District Heath Department, Khandwa under the supervision of experienced Medical Practitioners — Dr. D R Bhatia, Dr. Anil Kumar and Dr. Rakesh Kushwaha.

Due to lack of access to basic medical facilities such health issues are seldom given prominence. Hence, we thank Glenmark for supporting us in conducting this dermatology camp which is a first-of-its-kind initiative in this backward tribal belt”; said Prakash Michael, Co — Founder Spandan Samaj Sewa Samiti.
