CSR Award 2019
Kolkata: mjunction, India's largest B2B eCommerce company, has won the coveted 'Best Innovative CSR Project of the Year Award' in CSR Summit and Awards 2019 held in New Delhi.
mjunction's CSR initiative Project Jyoti, which was in collaboration with the Government of Chhattisgarh, was the winning project said the jury. The project involves transforming the lives of 50 visually-impaired students using technology. In this project, the state board books were converted using Unicode into Accessible format and then uploaded on apps in the mobile phones provided to the students by the junction. The students are trained by experts to use “talk back” facility in their smartphones to navigate and “read” their textbooks. This has given them freedom from Braille books, which were short in supply, and lowered their dependence on sighted individuals for simple tasks like reading a newspaper.
mjunction MD and CEO Mr. Vinaya Varma said, “I am humbled to receive this award on behalf of mjunction. We are planning to expand the impact of Project Jyoti to other states as well so that we can transform more lives using technology. I congratulate my CSR team - Mahul and Piya - for the good work.”
