Gopal Bodhe, known as Ace aerial photographer for his well-known Aerial Photography was based in Mumbai, a city of dreams. He was the first Indian who has the honor of publishing the book “Mumbai a View from Heavens” on Aerial Photography. 17th May 2014 was the day when the elite Aerial photographer passed away while on a shooting assignment at Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand. ‘Best of Great Bhet’on IBN-Lokmat takes you back into a wonderful time with the acclaimed Aerial photographer and his voluminous work this Saturday, 20th June, 2014 at 8.00PM.

Bodhe had pioneered and mastered the art and science of aerial and infra-red photography, which was considered the most challenging branches of this visual medium at the time. He used infra-red photography as a guide to assess the diseases of forests, pollution status, depths of water and other valuable scientific information. About two decades ago, when computer photography was unheard of, he combined 10 photos to make a single sprawling picture of Mumbai's famed Marine Drive.

Bodhe was Born in Sangli, Maharashtra in 1948. Unlike others Bodhe began his career at the age of 10 with a great passion, in a tiny space converted into a photo Studio. This passion he continued for 50 years & became the first Indian Aerial Photographer to fly over the country’s coastline created a photographic record. The whole country was amazed by his vivid work. His works still mesmerizes and imprints on the hearts of people. Bodhe’s avid photography can be still seen through his webpage named as “Views From Heaven”.
