Lee NH, June 2, 2016 - Profit Tools the innovative leader in Intermodal Transportation Management System (TMS) software, shared some guidance on the new Safety of Life at Sea Convention (SOLAS) Container Weight Verification Requirement including what it means to trucking companies and how they can simplify and automate the compliance process for their customers.
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has amended SOLAS to require that a container has a verified weight. The shipper is responsible for providing advanced verification of the packed container weight. This requirement will become legally effective on July 1, 2016.
Profit Tools can help intermodal trucking companies and their customers comply with this new SOLAS requirement by automating and streamlining the container weight verification process. Profit Tools DPS Mobile Solution is an image and document processing system that allows drivers to easily capture an image of the scale ticket from their cell phone. These images are immediately available inside Profit Tools TMS reducing the need to scan documents upon a driver’s return to the office. Profit Tools Document Transfer Solution will then automatically and electronically pass this document to the trucking company’s customer.
“We want to help trucking companies become more knowledgeable of SOLAS requirements, understand what their role is and how they can streamline the compliance process for their customers,” said Brian Widell, President and Owner of Profit Tools. “Our DPS and Document Transfer Solutions automates this process saving time and money.”
