02, January 2015: Back in the 19th century, what was to become the city of Saginaw was once a thriving lumber community. It was inhabited by the Sauk tribe. While the name, “Saginaw” is of Ojibwa language, it was actually a name that came out of a misunderstanding. While the natives were telling Samuel de Champlain that the Sauk can be found at the west shore of Michigan, Samuel de Champlain translated it as Sauk can be found at the east side.

A visit to the city of Saginaw would not be complete without passing by such places as the Castle Museum of the Saginaw County History, the Ojibway Island Park, the Apple Mountain, the Dixie Motor Speedway, and the Frankenmuth.

After a long day in all of these places, you need to make sure that you have a place to stay in. Fortunately, there are more than a handful hotels in Saginaw Michigan. One such hotel is the Gratiot View Motel Saginaw Michigan.
