August 1, 2014: The Closed Captioning Project has become the number one company when it comes to providing extensive captioning experimentation and equivalency within the captioning medium, and will now be donating their services to assist Healthy Words in their “Healthy Words” campaign this August.
Healthy Words Global Initiative (501 c3) has a mission to empower children’s outlook of themselves, other people, and the world around them, by promoting the power of literacy through the increased exposure to positive, beneficial, and nutritious vocabulary. When contacted for comment, the Founder Fonde Bridges of Healthy Words Global Initiative said, “Healthy Words are positive, beneficial, and nutritious vocabulary words. They are essential to healthy thoughts, healthy communication, and therefore a healthy life. Children deserve to know more and more healthy words!”
Why The Closed Captioning Project? According to the report of (NIDCD) National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, there is a strong relationship between age and reported hearing loss. The report states that 18 percent of American adults from 45 to 64 years of age, 30 percent from 65 to74 years and 47 percent of 75 years or above have a hearing related issue. Approximately 17 percent of 36 million of American adults report some degree of hearing loss.
Closed captioning is helping people who are deaf and face hearing problem. Healthy Words is helping people look at the world differently.
About The Closed Captioning Project
The Closed Captioning Project grew one night from watching how poorly television was captioned. Since that restless night, CCP has been experimenting with the form and function of the captioning process to seek equivalency between the audioscape of the media and the on-screen text.
