Winter has finally gone back to bed, and spring is firmly in the air, which means flowers and all things floral have reappeared. To cheer myself up from the latest hit of hay fever, a quick pop around the high street has got me wondering - where are all the vintage prints? These are all cheap look a likes!

All of the winter clothes have gone to the back of the box, and I feel that it is time to sproosh up my old clothes to make way for the arrival of the sunshine. Recently I have fallen in love with tassels, ribbons, laces and trimmings. Not just any trimmings but statement, show-stopping vintage trimmings. John Lewis was always my first stop for trimmings and lovely delights, but by the wonders of “word of mouth”, a close friend told me about another wonderful source, Spinsters Emporium
http://spinstersemporium.co.uk/shop/trimmings-ribbons-c-24_44.html

Not only is it quirky and playful, but it sells the most beautiful vintage fabric, craft packs, and vintage trimmings and the most beautiful collection of retro fabrics. What else could you want in the world? It has become my haven to escape the grim world outside, and indulge on my guilty pleasures of craft and fashion.
So, today is Saturday, and its time to make. My make do and mend box is over flowing, and after purchasing a metre of “Can Can” http://spinstersemporium.co.uk/shop/vintage-lace-ribbon-trim-p-712.html

a vintage trimming of pleated ribbon and vintage lace combination, I have all things needed for a splendid date with my sewing machine. I‘ve thought about many things, such as headbands, or inventive necklines, but for now I‘m just going to update the hems on my vintage clothing, more precise my plan t-shirt. There‘s so much you could do with vintage trimmings and ribbons, especially when they are this scrumptious. This particular vintage ribbon is a 1950/60‘s trimming, and my gosh it is lush.
While I‘m writing this, I‘ve re-visited Spinster‘s Emporium 4 more times, yes; you could say that I am a little hooked. And with that, I‘ve also made 2 more purchases for vintage lace and vintage ribbon. For my dear friend who suggested this enchanting site, I‘ve bought a metre of “Clotted Cream” Vintage Trimming http://spinstersemporium.co.uk/shop/clotted-cream-vintage-trimmin-p-713.html

it‘s scrumptious and delicious and truly desirable, plaited chunky cream yarn. With this vintage trimming delight, I could see her updating her undergarments, camisoles and even her pumps.  It‘s charming isn‘t it? I wish there was a gift wrap, which said, “my best friend found this site and passed it my way” button, but the wrapping is so beautiful there is no need!
In a few more days there may be another purchase from me and my sewing machine, maybe I could send some to my grandma, and she could update her upholstery, or maybe I could update the hems and cuffs of a jacket or a collar. Remember to check out all of the yummy names given to the vintage trimmings and vintage laces, the “Sapphire Delight”, “Viennese Swirls” or “Oh Pinky, you don‘t need no brain”. And all other vintage fabrics, craft packs and vintage wallpapers. Yes! Even vintage wallpapers! Should I start saving my wallpaper for my retirement? What a silly thing to say, I‘ll just become a Spinster!
